“I made a mess of me” is a song by Switchfoot. Sin has distorted God’s beautiful creation. Wouldn’t it be nice if you could get with the manufacturer and have him reset you back to the original programming? I think this is entirely possible. The maker of all things has written the book on repair. Not only can He heal our physical ailments, but more so, our emotional wounds and scars. One effect of sin is the pain of guilt we feel when we stray from God’s perfect plan for our lives. Another symptom of our sinful lifestyle is the distortion of our view of the world. We accept things that are against God’s design. This is the same concept as boiling a lobster, gradually increasing the heat until he dies in the pot. We need to pray to God for renewed sensitivity in spiritual matters. The Holy Spirit does not yell at us, we need to listen to His quiet voice in our lives. We should ask God to restore a pure heart in us and allow God’s truth to work in us returning us to our original state. There is hope for us after all. Thank God!
