Wallowing in your sin makes you grouchy. So confessing your sin and getting right with God brings you joy. That seems like a mathematical equation to me. So why hold on to sin? Doesn’t seem to add up. I think we are like little children in that respect. The rebellious nature kids have towards their parents equals our rebellious response to our heavenly father. I’ve experienced this with my kid, when she knows she is wrong, she hides, she defies me and she is in an overall awful mood. Once she comes clean and all charges are dropped, she can have unhindered interaction with me again. The same is true with our relationship with God. So, confess your sins right away, and don’t sit in that soiled mess you made until you get sore.
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness." 1. John 1:9
"Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me." Psalm 51:12
"He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy." Job 8:21
