Mirror Image

When God puts a mirror in front of our face and we see our brokenness, it’s important to take stock in what we see clearly before us: a broken creature that went where no man should have gone before or after. God intended us to be perfect, sinless, not a distorted image of what He intended prior to the first act of rebellion in the garden of Eden. But we find ourselves in a sinful state. That is a fact that we have to acknowledge. That is indeed the starting point. It may seem like a fun house mirror to you when your rose-colored glasses are removed from your eyes and you see the sinful nature plainly before you. It is important not to remain there and become cynical about it. Once we see our imperfections we should turn to the designer and have him refurbish us, like the electronic products we may buy at a discount store that are labeled “Factory Reconditioned”. God has to show these areas to us, so we can consciously turn them over to Him to deal with. Those times are not fun, but very necessary in our spiritual growth. Let us be willing to view our sinful selves in God’s mirror and then turn to Him for help. He is the way, the truth and the light. And He is love. That’s why we can trust Him with our imperfect selves. Thank you, Almighty God for caring for a lowly me. That’s too amazing to fully comprehend.

Philippians 1: 3-11 (NKJV)
“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace. For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.
