There’s no mystery in what happens when you open the door just a crack while a person with ill intent is waiting on the other side…Everyone can imagine the violent way that the door will be kicked open and your place besieged and you defeated, UFC style smack down, eating dirt…Well, that’s a graphic illustration of what happens when we toy with sin. And there are actually worse outcomes in the spiritual home invasion we face daily, if we open ourselves up that way. The evil one wants to discredit our testimony, keep us ineffective and bound by sin. That’s his strategy for keeping many souls from knowing the freeing news of a savior. It keeps us from living the abundant and victorious life that God has intended for us before The Fall.
But when we are face down in the mire, let us not stay there. Call on our savior to get us cleaned up and back into the safety of his arms. What follows is restoration through forgiveness by way of mercy and grace. Then we can live out our abundant life. Hopefully not until the next time, but you know how it goes…
