There may be days when you feel like throwing in the towel-don’t!
It’s, after all, not about what you want (to change a saying by a certain someone slightly) but what God wants. So that really settles it. Temper tantrums, pouting, pity parties are silliness. It is what it is, to quote another person. Suck it up, move on. Sometimes I need to kick myself in the rear to get going, I guess. Today appears to be one of those days.
I talked to one of my sisters yesterday, who said we have to suffer. That is part of life. That is how we grow. That is how we stay close to God. This reminds us of our overwhelming need for God. It teaches us to trust God for his provision and leading and healing. True.
Still, who wants to suffer voluntarily?
She mentioned the time when James says, he rejoiced when he was persecuted (James 1:1-2). Wow. Rejoice? That seems to be a bit over the top. But it isn’t. In God’s world, it is topsy-turvy. The least will be the greatest per the sermon on the mount (Matthew 5).
This is all well and good, but when we suffer not for righteous reasons this logic does not apply. So when we disagree with God- which in itself is ridiculous-we are on our own. God’s provisions are not applicable. Our misery is self-created and self-limiting. It is only dependant on our own mind-set. Once we come to our senses and return to God’s way, we are again right and eligible for His inexplicable joy. I don’t know about you, but sign me up!
