Hold still!

“Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” Philippians 2:12-13

Hold still! Doesn’t it seem like you’ve said that a billion times, if you have kids? Anything from trying to brush their hair, get them zipped up or putting on a band-aid etc. Kids have other distractions on their mind and can’t wait to act on them. They don’t see the big picture, all they want to do is have fun. Sounds like a song from the 80’s. But doesn’t that compare to our relationship with God as well? Our heavenly father could be imagined saying that to us, over and over again. Hold still! This may hurt, like brushing my daughter’s hair, but it will be so worth it in the end. God knows best. He is our father. He sees the big picture. He knows what we need. And He has our best in mind. We need to be groomed for those good works He has prepared for us in advance (Eph. 2:10). God will accomplish His purpose in our lives, if we just hold still!
