Conviction

If you have to justify your actions it may be time to take a look at your motives. When others either can’t see that you’re doing something for the right reason or it is so apparent that it is for the wrong reason, it’s time to repent. When we find ourselves making excuses for our activities when questioned by those who know us so well, we should stop and think. It’s time to humble yourself, be brutally honest and ask the tough question: Why am I doing this? Why am I behaving this way? What is my motivation? Where is my heart? As long as the answers to those questions check out according to God’s word, we’re ok. Sometimes our personalities are such that they cloud our good intentions and others may not see it so clearly. But other times, because they know us so well and see us from a more objective point of view, they may have the insight that we are lacking when we’re tied up in sin. Once we are confronted with our wrong doing, we should not delay getting right with God. The longer we linger in our sin, the more the noose tightens around our necks and the more powerful the devil’s stronghold becomes. Let us appreciate our spiritually discerning friends and family members who point out where we are going wrong, and let us remain squeaky clean in our relationship with God. There’s nothing better than a clear conscience! Thank you, Jesus for your mercy!
