God deserves our praise and worship regardless of what He does for us. This unconditional attitude reflects the father’s love for us. He loves us even when we mess up. That’s what his son died for on the cross and as long as we accept the forgiveness, we are clean and acceptable to God the father. In the same way we should not love God conditionally only when he blesses us. But in whatever situation we find ourselves in, God deserves our praise, worship and unconditional love.
Jesus showed this concept over and over again when he performed miracles, such as when he healed the deaf, blind and lame, or he fed thousands with a handful of food. It shows that he left immediately afterwards or told them not to tell anyone. Jesus did not want to be celebrated for the miracles he performed for those people. He did not want to be praised for what he had done for them, but rather for who he was: the son of God. (ex. Mark 7:31-8:10)
Let us not make our praise to God dependent upon our circumstances. Let us praise him also in the storms of life.
