Goose Bumps

I love it when God gives me goose bumps. It is awesome to see His work so majestically displayed right in front of my eyes. And I'm happy to be able to see it. We take our abilities and our life for granted until something unexpected happens to them. The events of last week were instrumental in bringing it to my attention again. It all started last week when two of my good friends experienced serious medical issues. The next blow came when news reached me that a very dear friend of mine passed away suddenly, unexpectedly. And last, but not least I fell and bumped my head which caused me to lose the use of my eyes and ear for longer than I was comfortable with, which gave me ample time to contemplate the possibility of not being around for my daughter. So again, for the third time in a week, I was faced with the fact of human frailty. We don’t know what we got until we lose it. We think we’re in control, but we’re not. God is in control, and he at times, brings this to our attention. Now here's the good part: another friend faced a tough choice between her career and her family, and she put it on the altar, like Abraham did with Isaac. God was gracious to provide a ram instead. God wants us to give Him the glory, honor and exultation that He deserves. He wants to be the center of our lives; we should fix our eyes upon Him at all times, keep our priorities straight. We need to see how small we really are, how incapable of ensuring the next breath, how helpless to see, hear, walk. God is in charge, he gives us breath, health, life. He can choose to take any of those from us, at any time. We, as human beings, have to know our place. Humility is so important in life- and appreciating life, health and our loved ones-and of course living a life that gives thanks to our creator. We are nothing without Him, and we need to give everything to Him because he will use everything in our lives to work out for the best. Father knows best…
