Spiritual Cotton Candy
If you fill yourself up with things that just don’t satisfy, you’re bound to have the same cravings again and again. It’s like spiritual cotton candy-mostly fluff, enticing to the eye and tasty to the tongue. But your stomach has very little benefit from your consumption of cotton candy-it’s left hungry. The stomach knows that this was just fluff and is not very happy with you. That’s when hunger pangs set in once more. And off you are to satisfy your cravings again. Hopefully it will be with the right foods this time. It’s much the same with our innate need for acceptance, fulfillment, happiness or admiration. If we try to fill our void by running after people, we will remain hungry. We will experience a temporary fulfillment, but keep coming up empty after that high wears off. This leaves us craving for more. The only one who can truly fill our cravings is the bread of life, Jesus. He is the answer. For absolutely everything. It’s again so fantastically simply, yet profound. “Jesus is the answer for the world today, above him there’s no other Jesus is the way..”
